Canada Roadtrip

We had a brilliant week with Aaron's family. We went on a road trip through Alberta and BC. It was awesome to be with Aaron's parents and they also brought two of our nephews, Sergio and Vincent. We saw a lot of wildlife including two bear cubs! We also saw (and swam in) some great waterfalls and enjoyed the natural hot springs. It's always great to spend time with family.

The big news for us is that we bought our tickets to Chile. It was a bit stressful finding affordable tickets, and thank God we found what we were looking for. We leave on the 30th which is less than 3 weeks away. It kind of makes us realize that we're actually leaving. It's very exciting but we know the time will go by really fast, and there are still lots of things to do before we leave!

After this week I am especially amazed at God's provision and promise. We know that we are called to be in Chile. For a long time we were walking in faith, knowing the location but not exactly why we supposed to be there. Even on the day that we bought our tickets we still didn't know what we would be doing or in what city. It has sure stretched our trust especially as the days got closer but we know that we know that God wanted us to be there and so if it came to just showing up at the airport and taking it from there, we were ready to do that.

However, Aaron and I were talking the other day and we realized that there was a YWAM base in the city of Pichilemu that we had separately been praying about. We decided to see if this meant something and so we contacted them yesterday and told them our story and asked if there was a need for us to be there. And the response on the other end? "Are you joking? You want to come here and work at the base? Praise God!" It turns out that they had been praying for people to come and help at the YWAM base. There was a lot of work to do but a lot of the staff were gone on outreach or visiting home. In minutes the voice on the other line was already asking for our flight numbers and arranging for our accommodations and someone to pick us up from the airport. It's interesting because just as we got off the telephone we had to go to a meeting with the head of the missions committee at my church to discuss our plans for Chile. Before that phone conversation we had no plans! God's timing isn't always convenient or comfortable for us but I have seen God work in this way so many times that you learn to just let go and trust that He will do what he says He will do.

From what I've read about Pichilemu and The YWAM base I found out that it is a small city on the central coast and the surfing capitol of Chile. The YWAM base has a strong children's and sports ministry as well as ministry to surfers and to the rural schools. They have a sports complex which plays a big part of their ministry to the community. It is the only pool in the city and so all the locals are familiar with the base. We are so excited to be working there and to be involved in their ministries. We are also hoping to live with a spanish family so that we can better learn the language and culture.

I truly thank God for everything He has done so far with my husband and myself, we are learning that we must continue to transform daily. We are very excited about this next step in our lives and we are eager to see what will happen in the next few months!
