Last few days...
Our last few days with Amanda were great. On Wednesday it was a little rainy so we decided to go to the Los Angeles area instead of the beach. We started off with a trip to the Grauman's Chinese Theatre. I have never actually been there myself so it was pretty cool to see all the handprints of everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Tom Hanks. Then we walked over to the Kodak Theatre and everyone was there setting up for the Oscar Awards this Sunday. We walked on the red carpet and then we grabbed some lunch. Then, as we were walking down the street we happened to see Harrison Ford as well as Jimmy Kimmel. Welcome to Hollywood I guess...
We took Amanda to Sunset Blvd to show her the shops and then we drove down Beverly Hills to look at the crazy houses. We ended our day with a trip to the Getty Museum. I was beyond impressed! This is a must see if you ever happen to be in the LA area. The museum itself is on top of a huge hill that overlooks the city. There are five beautifully architected buildings that house art in different time periods. There is also an amazing outdoor garden that I was personally interested in. Needless to say I took a lot of pictures. It was a great day.
On Thursday Amanda and I spent the day together while Aaron worked on his sermon. We did a little shopping, had a nice lunch and in the evening we had dinner with Aaron's family.
Yesterday was pretty chill. We met up with our friend, Jessica and went out for some authentic Mexican tacos and tortas and horchata. We watched a movie and then we headed home and just hung out for the evening. Amanda and I watched the DVD of Rob Bell's first tour called "Everything is Spiritual" It is fantastic and it will definitely make you think! You can watch a clip of it here.
This morning we drove Amanda to the airport and parted ways. It was such a great week and we really enjoyed having her here. It's rare to find a friend like she has been to us and I'm really happy that she took her reading break to come down and visit.
