diy {valentine art}

I had a little time to myself yesterday (read- both kids were sleeping at the same time, woo hoo!) and I wanted to make a little something for Valentine's day. I browsed through the supplies that I had on hand and came up with this sweet  and simple framed art. It only took me a few minutes and I love how it came out. I just might leave it up all year! If you'd like to make your own here's what you'll need:
- heart punch (mine was Martha Stewart)
- red paper
- glue
- chipboard letters
-acrylic paint and brush (if you'd like the letters to be a different color)
- kraft paper cut to fit a 4x6 frame (or whatever size of frame you want to use)
 First, cut out six hearts with the punch
Fold all the hearts in half. Apply glue to one half of a heart and attach it to another. Repeat until all hearts are connected.
 Let the glue dry for a minute and there you have a pretty pop-out heart!
 If your chipboard letters are a different color than you'd like, just give them a coat of acrylic paint.
Now just remove the glass from the frame and insert the kraft paper. Use glue to attach the letters and the heart. I also added a string of hearts to the corner that I just put together with a needle and thread.

And there you have it! I think it looks so cute and it's a great touch for Valentine's Day or any day of the year.

You can use the same heart technique and attach it to a card with rubber stamped letters. A perfect valentine for someone you love :)

  1. Hi Sarah i was just wondering what material did you use for the white portion covering the frame?

    1. Hello! I actually found the white frame "as is" at a little flea market. It seems like it's just chipped white paint.
